Sandra Noel – “The bee in me is dancing figure of eights”

The bee in me is dancing figure of eights

east-north-east towards the sea,
but even the wind is still asleep.

You’re making your half awake kissing sound.
I lean over to taste the taste of you,

tell you we could make sun-up if we leave now,
though it’s still too dark to tell if the Tuesday sky

will show its paint-box of eccentricity.
A hundred swim-rises line up in my mind;

I need to show you the beautiful in early,
drink orange sky and pillow with you
in the language of ocean.

  1. Sandra’s poetic dance with words beautifully captures the anticipation of a morning yet to unfold. The vivid imagery of the bee, the stillness of the wind, and the desire to share the beauty of an early sunrise make this a delightful and sensory experience.
